Classes_-_Swordsman

1. Can Iron Body and Iron Wall (Spearman ability) be used at the same time?
Basically, iron body and iron wall do not stack and it is matter of the order you use them.

Say, you mastered iron body(weapon D +40) and iron wall(weapon D and magic D +20 each). If you use iron body first(now WD +40) and then use iron wall, now it is only WD+20 and MD+20.If you use iron wall first(now WD +20 and MD +20) and then use iron body, now it is WD +40 and MD +20.

Most of the skills work like this.

2. Does warriors in KMS prefer to max iron body or power strike?
Well, I would say iron body and power strike are not comparable. Power strike is something that every, err most, 99%, warriors master and use instead of normal attack. They do use it as a basic attack skill even after 3rd job advancement.

HP Max and Power strike are the ones almost of all KMS users mastered.

Iron body will be less important by the time your level is high.

3. How does Defense work?
Defence works like this. (Just get idea not the numbers.)

Say, 40 weapon defence reduces 20 damages.

You will get less than 50 damages normally. -> that's 50-20=30 Huge difference.

Later, you may get hundreds of damages. -> say, 400-20=380 not that much.

4. Iron body will be less important by the time your level is high. Why?
I mean the other skills may be more important but it is totally up to you how you spend your sps.

However, you will get a skill called Power Guard (not for spearmen)

This is a skill that reduces damages in percentage and even return your damages to the monsters. This stacks with Iron Body but the effect of Iron Body may be minimised. However, some users in high levels say that Iron Body is good to earn money or not to lose much money by saving portions.

5. What abt slash blast? wise to max that?
Up to you. As far as I know, ppl chose to max Iron Body or max Slash Blast, or maybe you can choose to half-max iron and slash each.

6. Since im going to be a defensive player..and is the skill threaten a good skill to put to sp into?
Max HP Max asap since the benefit you get will be greater if you get them in earlier level. Max Power Strike as you will use all the time. then go iron for more defence and save money, or go slash for faster level-up.

7. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a spearman?
Spearman is good since it has so high maximum damage and nice skills. Hyper Body temporarily increases your Max HP 40% or something. You can boost your HP.Downside is that spearman's attack speed is slow, low minimum dagae and does not have Power Guard skill.

8. What skills do you recommend maxing with Warrior before the lv30 job advancement? And in what order?
Warriors: HP Max, Power Strike -> you must max them

9. Reading a description for the page class advancement, it says that they are more magically oriented than their fellow spearmen and fighters, so please tell me this: do they ever become the type to depend a lot on mana and the magical power (magic attack, magic defense) there is to be gained from raising the intelligence stat? If so, would it be wise to start raising that stat while I am still a warrior?
No skill is related to intelligence until you get to 3rd job. For the knight, you get magic attack there. Some high level knights told me that those magic attack is somewhat related to int.

I do not know if you guys know but every int stat adds much less attack power for magician than every str, dex and luck stat does for warriors, bowmen and rougues. So, what I am trying to say is that even though int may be relevant in later level, raising int will not be as effectve as raising str. So no knights raise their int stats. Never, ever raise stats other than str and dex if you are a warrior. (Str is the main stat which is the most effective stat to raise your attack power. Dex is only raised not to get miss message. However do not raise dex too much since the succesful hit rate is also related to your level. Do not think you have to raise dex just because you could not hit a target which is 20 or 30 levels above you.)

10. I noticed that as knights they get the mp recovery up skill, which has led me to think that they may need more mana when a warrior goes down the path of a page. on this note, is raising mp recovery up worthwhile? thanks again for your time!
There are many skills which have the same name but have diffrent effects, such as Endure for swordmen and assassin/bandit or MP regen for magician and knight.

MP regen for magician: your mp regen is related to your level and skill level.
MP regen for knight: it is specifically stated in number that how many you will gain more in 10 seconds. eg. 2 more in skill level in 1 sp

So, MP regen is not that good for knight.

11. I heard Warriors should have DEX 2x their lvl. Is that right?
You don't have to strictly follow, but yes, you are right... up to level 30 only.

12. I keep hearing people saying they're going Iron Body but does IB really matter when you're at level 30? Isn't there def. skills (a lot better ones at that)?
Yes, there is a lot better one. However, they do stack but the effect of Iron Body will be minimised.

13. What skill do I get first as a Warrior, Power Strike or Slash Blast? I *think* I saw a guy using Slash Blast (Power Strike is a single enemy attk?) and taking out mobs in Ant Hole 1 at lvl21 w/ the lvl15 sword which made me want to quit my Bowman and make a Warrior. I wanted to be able to do the same.
Strike is a single enemy attk?) and taking out mobs in Ant Hole 1 at lvl21 w/ the lvl15 sword which made me want to quit my Bowman and make a Warrior. I wanted to be able to do the same.
Well, if you like that, go for it before you get power strike. However, you have to max HP Max first. (Of course you have to put 5 in HP Regen to get this skill.)
However, do not ignore Power Strike. Max it after Slash if you want that way.

14. Is this a good build?

10 HP Recovery
10 Max HP Inc.
1 Endure
20 Power Strike
20 Slash Blast

In which order should I do things after getting Max HP Inc.?

Err, too much HP Recovery at the beginning. Go like this,

5 HP Recovery
10 Max HP Inc.
(20 Power Strike
20 Slash Blast)
and then whatever you want.

Choose the order for skills in brackes. It will be wise to go 10 and go 10 of the other skill.
ie. Slash 10 Power 10 slash 20 power 20.
It doesn't really matter the order though. Do as you wish.

15. I'm a warrior level 16, what are the skill sI should max out first? Or at all? Should I be a polearm or sword or what kind of warrior would you suggest for first time?
Go HP Regen 5 then Max out HP MAX. They have chracteristics.Choose what you think is interesting.

16. From what you know, what are the key difference between the the three warrior specialization classes (path of fighter, path of page, path of spearman), and what can one expect from each of them as an experience? like, what does each class entail, its advantages, disvantages, etc.. basically, I'd like an idea of the overall play style each class has to offer. I'm a warrior reaching lv.30 soon, and I'm very much leaning towards the path of the page, but before I commit myself to it i'd like an idea of what 'd be missing out on and what I can boast about over the other classes. thanks a lot :)
I'll only talk about different skills or key skills not the common skills.
2nd jobs
Fighter:
By 2nd job advance, you will get several hundreds of HP.
Power Guard makes fighter, as well as page, very tough.
You'll save lots of mesos by saving a lot of potion.
Fury makes the fighter have the most powerful average damage among warriors.

Page:
By 2nd job advance, you will get several hundreds of HP much less than fighter and several hundreds of MP.
Power Guard does the same as that in fighter
Threaten is not effectve as Fury but it is the first magic you can use. :)

Spearmen:
By 2nd job advance, you will get several hundreds of HP much less than fighter and several hundreds of MP.
The difference btw Min and Max is huge and attack speed is slow but the attack reach is long.
Spearmen does not have Power Guard but Hyper Body.
Your Max HP and you Max MP will be boosted temporarilly. Your party members will like this skill. :)
Iron Wall... As effective as Iron Body.

17. How about the 3rd jobs?
3rd jobs
Crusader:
There is another power boosting skill.
It is combo attack.
You attack and you will gain balls orbitting around you. As their number increases, your attack power increases! (Maximum number:5)
You can use finish move but you will only want to use it when it is about the time when balls wear off, since you have to charge those balls again.
I am telling you, crusader is really powerful.

Knight:
Now you can use magic. :)
You have three types of element which you can enchant your weapon.
Your attack power will be more powerful and on top of that, just like magician, if you hit monsters which are weak against the type of element you enchanted, you will get much stronger attack.
Thunder is the most powerful because there are not much monsters weak against it.
Fire is after thunder and you should know that almost half of monsters currently in Osyris are ice types. :) Ice is relatively weaker than the other but you can freeze them!

Dragon Knight:
Thier skills look so great.
Maybe this is the only class that you get the real new skill.
You can get two new attack skills.
Err, I can't remember the names.
One is a skill that you attack up to 4 targets with 3 hits each. (or 3 targets with 4 hits each. I can't remember.)
The other is a skill that you can attack up to 6 targets just like slash but much powerful and with longer reach.
The former is more powerful than the latter but the targets you can hit is less.
The former always use stab motion and the latter always use slash motion.
The former will be the best for spear and the latter will be the best for Polearm.
You get attack power boost skill but you lose hp every 10 seconds.
You get an attack skill which attack up to 15 targets in half of the map but you will lose almost half of your HP.
(It is huge HP loss since you will have more than 10000HP because of Hyper Body. :P )
Generally, because you don't have power guard and some skills use your Hp a lot, you will get less mesos or lose more mesos than the other classes.

18. Overall?
Crusader: The most powerful average attack.
Knight: less powerful but you can freeze targets.
Dragon Knight: HP tanker but low defence. Long reach.

19. Is Iron Body worth it?
Worth it but choose wisely btw Iron Body and Slash.

20. If i'm going spearman would this skill build be good

16 hp recovery
10 hp max
10 slash blast
20 power strike
4 endure
i already have my slash blast, hp recov, hp max, 3 endure and 1 power strike. I'm really disputing over power strike or iron body.. Like really... Maybe power strike at 10 for half the mp?? and then get more endure and get a little iron body. What do you think?

Don't worry about HP recovery. Trust me, you will not stop and rest to gain HP but you will use potion all the time. Put more points in slash blast. ie. max it.

Oh, well, if you already have my slash blast, hp recov, hp max, 3 endure and 1 power strike, then max power strike.

21. Dragon Knight sounds so interesting... So many area skills and 15 targets in half of the map o.O *faints
Well, you have to be very careful though.
You have to use up half of your HP. Because your HP will be more than 10000, it means you use up 5000 which will cost 5000 or more mesos to recover.
Moreover, you will sometimes die because of low HP left even though your Max HP is more than 10000. (Actually the skills you are fastinated at are not the favourable skills by KMS Dragon Knights.)

22. As spearman should i try to get mastery and the double attack thing first or getting the Hyper body first. I also do not plan to get iron body or iron wall
Of course you have to get Mastery and Final Attack thing first.
It is all right not to raise iron wall and iron body at all.

23. Does Knight's Magic Sword skills have area of effect or are they ranged?
Not ranged, not an area attack. It is an enchantment. After enchanting your sword or mace, if you use power strike, it will be a powerful single target attack with elemental power even more powerful than normal Power Strike and if you use slash, it will be a powerful multiple target attack with elemental power more powerful than normal slash.

24. I read that Final atk (fighter/page/spearman) gives like a chance to follow up ur normal atk with a more dmging 1. Does it work for power strike?
Final attack works with Power Strike, Slash Blast, Arrow Blast and Double Arrow. It doesn't work with normal attack though.

25. What should a Fighter or Spearmen be putting skill points into (once I hit 30)? What's a good build for both? The speed up attack skill seems nice but I don't know if it takes up too much life or anything. The extra attack passive skill sounds nice, too...
First choose your weapon and put appropriate skills only.
put 19 in Mastery first.
Then, max final attack.
Put several points in Booster in between when you see the period is too short.

26. I've been using Slash Blast with a sword (1-handed, the Sabre) recently and it's range is pretty bad. Once I'm lvl20 I'm thinking of trying out the Polearm or Spear. I'm guessing Slash Blast is more of a range skill while Power Strike is more suited towards Sword-wielders? Just an opinion question... would S.Blast be viable as a big mob control skill as a Fighter and/or for the 3rd advancement? I want to have great normal attack dmg (which seems to be the Fighter's forte while the Spearmen rely on big group killing) but I also want to be able to kill mobs, too.
Sword is shorter than spear or polearm but much faster.
Both sword and spear or polearm users need power strike. Also slash is not only for spear and polearm users.
S.Blast and power strike are useful for all the three warriors. S.Blast gets useless when you become a dragon knight only.

27. I made a warrior who is at level 15 now, using polearms, and it seems every warrior guide i see says to use power strike, and that skill says its for swords, so my question is will it be worth getting if im a polearm warrior? should i stick to swords until i become a Spearman or is there a way to use powerstrike with a polearm?
Whatever you are, as long as you are a warrior, you must get power strike. Power strike is for every weapon.

28. can I ask why not max the weapon mastery? Why leave it at 19?
And if we were to follow that as spearman, when do we get Hyper Body?
Which is better, Hyper Body or Iron Wall?
And another question is does Hyper Body work by percentage or a fixed amount?

You may max mastery but not at early levels.
Put just 19.
The mastery percentage increases at every odd number skill level and accuracy increases at every skill level.
So... from 19 to 20, you get only one extra accuracy. Only one accuracy for one sp is not wroth, isn't it?
That's why you just leave it at 19. Of course you can max later.
-It will be good to get Hyperbody after 19 Mastery, max Final Strike and some Booster.
-Hmm, I guess Hyperbody is better than Ironwall.
-It works on percentage and that's why it is so good.

29. If I go...
5 HP Recov.
10 HP MAX Inc.
20 P.Strike
20 S.Blast
I feel like the extra 6 points would be wasted on Iron Body so which should I put points into, HP Recov. in the end or Endure?

If you go fighter, you will find Iron body lv 1 useful to negate AD down by Fury.
For the others, one in endure and the rest in HP recovery is better than low level iron body.

30. Is going past level 8 slash blast worth the extra 8 mp and hp?
I personally think Slash is really worth maxing.

31. I heard Warriors should have DEX 2x their lvl. Is that right?
You don't have to strictly follow, but yes, you are right... up to level 30 only.
When you said this I assume you mean 100str/60dex is fine at lvl30 but after that go maybe 4/1?
Is there a mob control skill for Fighters or do you have to use Slash Blast?

Maybe that will do. Dex is apparently not required to be 2x their level after 30.
Fighters, Pages and Spearmen all have to use Slash Blast as a mob control skill.
Crusaders and Knights have to use Slash Blast as a mob control skill but with their attack power boosting skills.
(Err, they DO have new mob control skills but Slash+their attack power boosting skills work better.)
Dragon Knight will get several new mob control skills.

32. How much of a boost does the Booster skills give to Sword users and Spear/Polearms? A FAST would be VERY FAST? A SLOW would be NORMAL?
Normally boost makes a weapon faster a step. Fast will be Faster and Slow will be Normal. However, boost works differently on different weapons. Say, there are two swords speed of which are Fast, their speeds may be different after you use booster. Actually, you may have noticed that not all the Fast are the same speed and not all the Slow are the same speed. It seems that they are assigned for certain range of speed.

33. Don't waste ANY points into any of the other skills and go with lvl19 Mastery and maxed Final Attack before anything else?
Good plan.

34. Is it just me or does hitting with the Polearm/Spear when monsters are right in your face seem to miss a lot? Like if your in real life with a Spear/Polearm and if someone gets real close to you it's harder to hit them away. It just seemed to me that a Sword would be better at keeping people at bay. Maybe if those two-handed swords have a bigger reach it'd be nice...
Err, this is a game and different from a real life. As far as I know, spears and polearms do not miss more in real close distance.

35. Does the 2x HP/MP skill Spearmens have last long? do you have to heal all that life yourself? Sounds like a lot of potion using...
Hyperbody last 300 seconds which is reasonbly long period. You have to heal the boosted amount but you will live with your Hyperbody on all the time! :) Don't worry, you are not wasting more potion but you are just having more max HP and MP than before.

36. In the Warrior progession what skills should I max in order.. and how should I do my stats? (Trying to make a good, solid build warrior)
HP recovery 5
HP Max MAX
This is the skills you have to put in the very early levels. ie. as soon as you become a warrior.
Then, the order is not really matter but Max Power Strike. The rest is up to you.

37. For spearmen, what is the better weapon. Pole Arm or Spear. I was chatting with someone and the "final weapon" for pole arms is some dragon pole arm and is actually stronger then the spear "final weapon". I was really debating because I just turned spearman and was highly debating on which one to focus upon, whether it be spears or polearms. Basically I was wondering which is more "readily available" acquired by drops. Because I dont want to, lets say focus on spears, and then the 30+ spear drop rates suck alot and the market would be flooded with pole arms and vice versa. But besides that, the pole arm I have looks badass =p
I have seen equal number of polearm and spear spearmen. They do not have much difference up to 2nd job however there is a difference in 3rd job.
Your main attack skill will be very different because one attack always shows slash motion and the other always shows stab motion.

Spear/Polearm Buster: at 30, MP cost=24, damage=170%, attack up to three targets for three times each. That is 170%*3=510% up to three targets. If you hit all the three, it will be 510%*3=1530%. Always stab motion.

Dragon Slasher(Spear/Polearm), or something: at 30, MP cost=20, HP cost=30, damage=250%, attack up to six targets. If you hit all the six, it will be 250%*6=1500%. Always slash motion.

Whether you use spear or polearm you can learn both of them but you will want to use one which is suitable to you.
N.B. Spear is more powerful in stab motion than in slash motion. Polearm is more powerful in slash motion than in stab motion.

38. What is the best order to level up your 2nd advancement skills for spearman?
This is my suggestion only.
Mastery 19 - Booster 5 - Final 30 - Hyper 30 - Iron 20
The reason that you put booster 5 before Final is because spears and polearms are so slow.
Put more in booster if you think booster is too short to use.

39. Can you tell us more about the Knight's Shout skill and the Crusader's Charge Blow skill? Like, at max level, what's the chance of instant killing an enemy with Shout, and what exactly does Charge Blow do?
Charge Blow is Knight's skill and Shout is Crusader's.

I do not have data for these skills because they are not the main skills.

Charge Blow: Attacks up to 6 targets with certain percentage of attack with certain percentage of chance to stun target. Normal attack reach. The Charges wear off after this attack.

Shout: Stuns up to 6 targets with certain percentage of attack but so week. Quite long attack reach.
Normally, Crusaders first use Combo Attack, which is a buff which adds your all the attack power by certain percentage for certain period, and use Power Strike or Slash Attack to attack monsters.
Knights first use one of Charge, which is a buff which adds your all the attack power by certain percentage for certain period and have elemental effects, and use Power Strike or Slash Attack to attack monsters.
Charges are weeker than Combo Attack but may be as strong as Combo Attack if you attack with a Charge which the target is weak against.
Also, with ice charge, you can freeze target.

40. Why would anyone go spearman when there's one-handed faster weapons that do the same damage?
Spearmen's skills are quite different from the other warriors. That could be a reaon.
Err, by the way, Even though the attack specified on weapons are the same for One-Handed and Two-Handed, It appears differently in your attack stat. ie. TH is more powerful than OH if attack is the same on the weapons.
But again, TH swords may be faster than spears and polearms. However, normally, spears and polearms have higher attacks than the others. I think skills of Dragon Knights attract some people.

41. I'm lvl28 Warrior, right now. I have 9 points saved up (for Slash Blast) but I'm unsure if the 2x HP/MP loss will be good for me since sometimes I S.Blast 2-3 monsters and that seems like a waste of mana. Putting that aside you said earlier that 1 pt in Iron Body will cancel the Fighter's Fury spell? Is it a good idea to get 1 pt in IB or just put them in HP recov. skill.
If you are going for a Fighter, it worths to put just 1 in Iron Body.
You may put sps in HP Recovery but you should consider that you will never stop training to regain health later.

If you really think more points in Slash is a waste, then invest in Iron Body.

42. How much faster does booster make a polearm/spear when it is maxed? And for how long?
About 25% faster, as I recall. 10 seconds per level in it, again, as I recall. The cost is on a downward sliding scale. 29 hp and mp at level 1, 10 hp and mp at level 20.

43. what monsters drop level 30 warrior stuff and level 35? namely the helmets... i have the armor for both but man the helmets and shields must be uber rare.
30 helmet: Joosting
Later, you can buy at Orbith in the new continent at 120k. lol
Also, Cold eyes drop these well but you can skip this helmet.
35 helmet:
Red Great Helmet: Red Drake drops this.
Brown Great Helmet: Curse Eye drops this. 160l at Orbith.

44. How do you use dex at lvl30 for a Warrior? 4str/1dex each lvl? or it should be less?
I guess, 4str/1dex should be enough after 30.

45. You said that warriors will eventually use PS as their main attack, but you also said that fighters won't gain any MP at second advancememnt, just a ton of health. Does that mean they can only cast PS about 10 times before drinking a potion?
Fighters can only cast PS about 10 times before drinking a potion but why does it make it bad?
I do not understand. You can only cast PS about 10 times even if you had more MP if you use the same ption.
Cheaper potion less attack, more expensive potion more attack.
It may be a problem if you lag so much and that it takes more than several seconds to drink a potion.
(If there is no lag, you can drink several potions in 1 second.)

46. (I was going to ask what path advancement is the easiest for a warrior but I don't know if that counts as a which class is better question or not)
If you are looking for an easiest, do not go for a spearman since it is one of hard jobs in Maplestory.

47. No you answered my first question, I was just confused because someone quoted JMS I guess saying that Crusaders get magic swords. I was like omgwtfhax that's awesome. Then when you said they didn't I was confused. Turns out because the names are different between EMS and JMS, that I got confused
If you wanna use magic swords, follow the one which can use sword and mace whatever it is called.

48. As a warrior, going 5 HP Regen, MAX HP UP, Max Power Strike/Slash Blast, what should all my remaining points go into (I looked through your other posts and they were on specific things but I mean in general)
You have 6 sps left with your plan. You shouldn't expect too much.:)
I recommend put 3 in Endure, 1 in Iron Body and 2 for HP Regen for Fighters, who have Fury, 1 in Endure and 5 in HP regen for Page and Spearman.

49. is the tech. that takes hp and mp good and should i work on it or the other one that just takes mp?
Power Strike is compulsary skill and Slash is optional but I recommend max both.

50. If a warrior adds intelligence, does he get a little more MP when he levels up? So is there a way to increase MP when you level up by putting points in something else besides HP?
There is no way that you can raise more MP other than putting points in MP. (Err, I may be wrong when the 4th job comes out though. )

51. Is the knight add element skill passive? if it isn't does higher levels mean lower mp or higher dmg or longer time or a combination of these?
Element Skills are not passive skills but active ones which work just like any other periodic skills. ie. Iron Body. Higher skill level mean more mp, higher damage and longer time.

When you use the crusader Combo skill do you need to use it for every hit or is it a time attack, like every attack in the next x seconds charges the balls.

52. how impressive is the final attack of the combo damage wise, could i expect to do 300+ percent assuming its maxed.
Hey, 300% is too low for final move. You will get 260%+a for combo and power strike combined attack for each blow.(It is already 300+) You have to 'turn off' your combo to use final move. You have to bear spending extra MP and spending some time to charge combos again all the way up to 5 to bring the maximum damage.

So, you expect more than that don't you? I guess it goes 500+, though not comfirmed.

53. do you need to be attacking the same thing for the balls to charge or is it whatever you attack charges it until you release the final attack.
It is whatever you attack in the same map. However, you don't move often btw maps, do you? :)

54. Hmm, as for mages, they have their luk kept always at 3 higher of their level. What about a swordman? I'm gonna make one thats going for fighter. How should I keep it balanced?
Unlike mages, or any other jobs, swordmen do not have requirements on equpiments and weapons for the second stat, which is Dex for swordsmen. It is a good advantage since, normally, second stat does not do much.
You have to put Dex just not to miss your main hunting monsters. Whenever you think it is necessary, you have to put points in Dex.

55. Btw, how much dex and lvl shld a fighter have to go up against Mushmom or even Jr balrog? How much dex do kms fighters usually keep?
Your level is an important factor as well as your dex, actualy your accuracy, which determine your chance to hit. I don't know much about this dex issue of warriors, but these may be the reference.

Mushmom
Lv45 Accuracy:85 All Miss
Lv46 Accuracy:81 All Miss
Lv50 Accuracy:103 40~50% Miss
Lv56 Accuracy:94 Few Miss
Though, it is not wise to raise all the accuracy by Dex just to hit mushmom, or Balrog.

All the above guys tried with Accuracy potions at least. Also when you are against Barlog, you may be quite rich by the time and you can prepare special Dex set. (The reason for this set is because you don't need this much dex for monsters you normally hunt. It will be just waste of your stat points.)
ie. Dex Scrolls on Sauna clothes: 10+ Dex
Dex Scrolls on Cape: 5+ Dex
10% Jump or Evasion scrolls on shoes: ? Dex(Not guaranteed at all.)
Accuracy scrolls on gauntles: 5+Dex(Though not recommended. Attack scrolls are far more effective than these.)
And Accuracy potion: 5 Dex
